I buy pulleys, I also hunt down things from craft shows, hobby lobby, flea markets. I use the mechanical parts from old toys and such. I basically build them from scratch and have alot of fun using my imagination.
One thing you have to have is patience. It can get stressful sometimes.Keithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15558889282379594984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3768919603098702119.post-29951539326838564772011-04-07T16:57:22.411-07:002011-04-07T16:57:22.411-07:00Paul, well I store them in my house for right now ...Paul, well I store them in my house for right now until I get more comfortable to sell them, until that time I keep them at home.
I am hoping someday that my work is good enough to sell.Keithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15558889282379594984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3768919603098702119.post-84841960151910878902011-03-14T12:44:53.026-07:002011-03-14T12:44:53.026-07:00Keith,

Some of these parts they are kind of hard to do but I am still trying to get it right. I am having the same problem as you are. I have been able to make it drill, somewhat, and that is where I need to work on that rotary table. I am trying to figure a way also to make it drill. So far all I have come up with is either it can turn by hand or I may have to buy like a tape recorder and attatch it to the drill pipe to make it spin and make sure the Kelly spins properly. Thats all I have for right now except I am still working on the motor and a few other matters. I need more lights. LOL. I am thinking also of repainting it. As far as parts, I am trying to find different wood that I can use so it may be a while before I will be able to finish.
p.s thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. If anyone has a project of building a rig I would love to see their pics of it. Possibly we can get some ideas from each other.Keithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15558889282379594984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3768919603098702119.post-34834748973949942682008-10-14T19:58:00.000-07:002008-10-14T19:58:00.000-07:00hey man thats a pretty sweet rig you got going on ...hey man thats a pretty sweet rig you got going on there, ive been tryin to build one for a while now, i got the derrick, substructure, and workin blocks, but im tryin to get it to drill and circulate like a real one but it is hard with little tools and equipment, but anyways keep up the good workAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3768919603098702119.post-72961606514638572102008-08-09T17:40:00.000-07:002008-08-09T17:40:00.000-07:00Only thing I can think about that your talking abo...Only thing I can think about that your talking about are the draw works or the legs. As far as the draw works, I cut it out of board, when I look at pics from draw works from rigs, I draw up the specs then make a template then cut them out.
For the legs that holds the derrick, I used some square sticks that you can find in wal-mart or craft stores, I get these flat pieces of poplar wood 4 x2 x3 scants, i draw it into like a triangle shape and hammer it almost to the tip of the hole. I hope I answered your question, if you need any more help or questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer your questions.Keithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15558889282379594984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3768919603098702119.post-69488986095744578012008-08-09T14:47:00.000-07:002008-08-09T14:47:00.000-07:00Thats some nice work Keith.
